DR Team - Tuesday in Esperanza
Posted on February 22nd, 2011
Tuesday, February-22-11Hola Everyone,
We were up at 6:30 this morning, breakfast at 7:30AM. Then back on our famous ‘limo’- Rob’s truck – at 8:15 AM for the worksite at Villa Esperanza.
This morning some of us were on pick n shovel duty to haul dirt back into new home. Dirt is hauled into the homes for fill, followed by sand for the base and rebar, before pouring the cement floor. Others were levelling and packing this base by stomping it down with a pipe with a metal plate at the end of it. Some were on wheelbarrows hauling dirt, sand and cement over rough terrain.
Everyone is at work, young and old(er), nobody’s complaining and all are enjoying themselves even if it’s rough work, God is always with us, lightning our work as this is what He has put into our hearts, and it’s all for His glory.
Around 11:15AM some went to meet and visit with their sponsored children and their families. It is amazing how the effort of several different groups have accomplished the transformation of this little community. Last year there were aproximately 40 new homes. This year there are some 140 new homes, and Algodones is slowly being torn down. It is amazing what can be done if people realize the need of our poor brothers and sisters in Christ.
We all had the afternoon off; we were all very sorry to see Daniela leaving in the afternoon, we’re praying for a safe trip back home on her behalf, to be united with Josia and Anika. May every one of you at Open Door welcome her back with open arms. She will have a lot to share.

PS. Beautiful sunny day today.
