Last week Evelyn started spending time one on one with the kids that come to Dulce Refugio regularly. It’s been so wonderful to see the way God has been using this young woman in these few weeks she has been here. She has brought a breath of fresh vision and passion to our team to see God at work directly in the lives of our children. God has been using her to teach the kids about their true identity in Christ and how to live out their faith!

Last Tuesday, on the 24th of May, we had such a beautiful prayer time where the kids split up in groups and 2 boys accepted Christ into their hearts, a little girl with HIV prayed that another boy would be healed of his cold, some other kids were in a comer praying and crying as the Holy Spirit was touching their hearts with His love. lt was truly so powerful!!

We know that God has His perfect ways and timing, and what we began to experience in prayer and sharing last week is only the beginning of what God wants to do in and through these kids. This week we are having a Prayer week from the 1st until the 4th of June where we are praying specifically for other children here and around the world. This 5th and 6th of June is the “Weekend of worldwide Prayer for Children at risk” and so we are planning, together with 4 other ministries and several other churches to organize different activities and opportunities for the children themselves to lead and pray for other children around the world.

Today our kids made a poster with their hand prints and the words that say “Committed hands, hands that fold together in prayer” and they made pictures that l am sending to you in Canada so that you can know that children here in Paraguay are praying for you. Tomorrow (Wednesday) they will be going out the hospital to hand out balloons and hugs, and also using that as an opportunity for the children to pray for the needs they see there. On Thursday we will show a power point with prayer requests, pictures and facts about children around the world, and then pray for them.

And Friday will be another day of prayer, sharing, and also painting a wall with a representation of prayer and worship to God. Through the children’s actions and initiative, we have started a prayer room on the third floor, open all day for anyone to pray, worship and seek God.

All in all, we (as the Dulce Refugio team) are fasting and praying that God will move in new and powerful ways. We long for the children to have an encounter here with their Creator so that they can go home knowing who they are in Him and that they have a Father despite having been abandoned or hurt by their earthly fathers. We strongly believe that it will be the children that will bring about a change in the hearts and lives of so many mothers who have been hardened towards God through many years of suffering.

So, I want to take this opportunity to invite you as a church, both young and old, to join us in prayer, to pray for our children as they pray for you. I’m sending some of the pictures they made for you all and I hope that at some point we can get some back from you.
