Urgent Prayer for Algodones

by Otoniel Perez on April 14th, 2010

Hi everyone, this is Otoniel Perez writing on behalf of Juan Ovalle.

Juan has been under a lot of stress and mediating a very intense and difficult situation in the Haitian community of Los Algodones and surrounding area.

He needs our prayer support!

The situation as he quickly explained has to do with criminal activity and corruption involving a gang of thieves in the village over the last five days. The security guard of the school broke up a plot by the thieves, the police came and made arrests. The bandits were let go the next day through corruption and as they came to seek vengeance on the school security guard he shot one of the leaders of the gang, who is also a corrupt authority in the community of Haitians. The village community is on the side of the school security guard and prevented the gang from harming the security guard.

The second situation happened two days ago and has the whole Haitian community stirred up with anger, fear, and desire for vengeance. In a love triangle situation a woman from the Los Algodones village brought her mother from Haiti a few days ago. The older woman is a witchdoctor and her daughter had acquired a number of death contracts for her to perform including the lover of her man. The old woman performed her witchcraft on the lover by blowing some magic dust on her and the lady fell ill and appeared to have died. Juan was part of the funeral service, open casket service, and burial along with pastor Joel in the Los Algodones village.

As people found out the story of what happened and discovered the presence of the witchdoctor among them in the village, they were enraged and full of fear. The community dug up the casket and brought her to the old woman witch doctor as a great crowd assembled with great commotion in that place. They gave her the choice of reviving the woman, eating the woman or they would burn them alive. The authorities were called, the old woman witchdoctor and her daughter imprisoned, and the body of the woman who had been assumed dead for a day and buried for over 10 hours was taken to the hospital.

The assumed corpse of the woman is currently in a coma like state with vital signs and remains in the hospital. A death wish list of some 30 people and 10 children was found among the belongings of the witchdoctor who remains under custody. Juan has taken the four grandchildren of the witchdoctor out of the village to the Dominican authorities for protection, because the village is enraged, but also afraid. Juan is also caring for the children of the woman who is in a coma at the Hospital.

This is not the first time that Juan has had to face a Haitian witchdoctor. On a previous occasion one showed up at his front door with the intention of putting a curse on his son. The Holy Spirit had warned Juan and his family ahead of time, and they had prepared in prayer. When Juan opened his front door and saw the Haitian witchdoctor on his doorstep, he asked him what he wanted. The man responded I have come for your son. Juan responded He belongs to God Jehovah and you have no right over him. The man fell back under the power of the Holy Spirit.

Juan would appreciate our prayers for direction, wisdom, and the power of the Holy Spirit to deal with this situation. Please pray for the healing of the woman at the Hospital, the safety and care of her children. Pray that evil plans of the enemy to steal, kill and destroy would be broken over the village of Los Algodones. Pray for the witchdoctor, to be set free from her evil intentions, her daughter to be set free from hatred and vengeance, her children to be safe and protected and would grow to know Jesus the prince of peace , king of kings and savior of the world.

On behalf of Juan and the ministry team of IN Network Dominicana thank you for your prayers, and support as they overcome this difficult trials.

The fervent and effective prayers of the righteous availeth much. When you pray, believe. ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE to those who believe. If God be for us who can be against us? Sing, oh daughter of Zion, sing. Meditate on the deliverance of your God.
